Adult ADHD Diagnosis Online and In Exeter, Devon

ADHD Assessment & Diagnosis: The Process

  • All patients are asked to complete an initial ADHD screening. During this stage you will be asked to complete a number of self-report questionnaires as part of our initial screening process. You will then meet with Dr Lorna Kerr for a 30 minute appointment to discuss the outcome of the screening and her recommendations for next steps.

If the screening is positive you will be invited to Step 2.

  • The diagnostic interview lasts approximately two hours and takes place via secure video call. Dr Lorna Kerr includes the Diagnostic Interview for ADHD in Adults (DIVA-5), a gold-standard diagnostic tool, as part of the diagnostic interview.

Prior to the interview you will be invited you to send across any relevant supporting evidence you might have available (e.g., old school reports, mental health assessments, etc).

During your initial screening appointment, we will have considered the possibility of asking those who are closest to you now and/or people have known you since childhood to complete some questionnaires about your symptoms. If you have agreed, they will be contacted and asked to complete an online questionnaire at ths stage.

  • Dr Kerr will carefully and throughly review all the data collected over the course of your assessment and clinical interview, in order to consider a formal diagnosis.

  • You will be invited to attend an online appointment lasting approximately 30 minutes, where we will have an opportunity to discuss the outcome of the assessment and our recommendations. At this stage Dr Lorna Kerr will inform you about whether or not you will receive a diagnosis of ADHD. There will also be an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have.

  • You will receive a report documenting the outcome of the assessment by secure email, prepared and signed by Dr Lorna Kerr, alongside a brief summary report outlining any diagnosis, that you may wish to share with your GP.
